CHAPTER 9

A PSALM OF DAVID: PRAISE TO GOD, THE GREAT DELIVERER

¹I will praise You, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will show forth all Your marvelous Works (David praises the Lord for victory; however, the greater fulfillment is praise to the Lord for the victory of Christ over the Antichrist in the coming Battle of Armageddon).

²I will be glad and rejoice in You: I will sing praise to Your Name, O You Most High (Possessor of Heaven and Earth).

³When my enemies are turned back, they shall fall and perish at Your Presence (once again, proclaims the defeat of the Antichrist).

⁴For You have maintained my right and my cause; You sat in the Throne judging right (it is the Lord Who decided the victory!).

⁵You have rebuked the heathen, You have destroyed the wicked, You have put out their name for ever and ever (once again, victory over the Antichrist).

⁶O you enemy, destructions are come to a perpetual end: and you have destroyed cities; their memorial is perished with them (you, the Antichrist, will destroy no more).

⁷But the LORD shall endure for ever: He has prepared His Throne for Judgment (the beginning of the Kingdom Age, which will commence immediately after the defeat of the Antichrist).

⁸And He shall judge the world in righteousness, He shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness (the government of the world will be upon His shoulder [Isa. 9:6]).

⁹The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble (the oppressed will no longer be oppressed).

¹⁰And they who know Your Name will put their trust in You: for You, LORD, have not forsaken them who seek You (the Lord forsakes not His Saints; we are preserved forever [Ps. 37:28]).

¹¹Sing praises to the LORD, Who dwells in Zion: declare among the people His Doings (this is the Kingdom Age, when the Lord reigns supreme from Jerusalem).

¹²When He makes inquisition for blood, He remembers them: He forgets not the cry of the humble (God will eventually avenge all the righteous and punish oppressors and criminals; this will take place at the beginning of the Kingdom Age).

¹³Have mercy upon me, O LORD; consider my trouble which I suffer of them who hate me, You Who lifts me up from the gates of death (the Lord will deliver Israel from the Antichrist when they are at the very gates of death):

¹⁴That I may show forth all Your praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion: I will rejoice in Your Salvation (Israel will then accept Christ as Saviour and Lord [Zech. 13:1]).

¹⁵The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they hid is their own foot taken (the Antichrist will set a trap for the whole of Israel; however, he will be snared in his own net).

¹⁶The LORD is known by the judgment which He executes: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah. (The last two words speak of meditation on what has been said.)

¹⁷The wicked shall be turned into Hell, and all the nations that forget God (every nation that sides with the Antichrist will, in effect, have turned their back on God, and as well will be turned into Hell).

¹⁸For the needy (Israel) shall not alway be forgotten: the expectation of the poor (Israel) shall not perish for ever (in the midst of the Battle of Armageddon, the Lord will come to the rescue of Israel).

¹⁹Arise, O LORD; let not man (the Antichrist) prevail: let the heathen be judged in Your sight.

²⁰Put them in fear, O LORD: that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah. (Despite the fact that the Antichrist and his followers will strut like gods, the truth is, they are but men; and up beside the Power of God, they are nothing!)
