CHAPTER 24

A PSALM OF DAVID: THE KING OF GLORY

The Earth is the LORDs, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they who dwell therein (God created the Earth, so it legally belongs to Him; sadly, it is now in rebellion against Him, being dominated more or less by Satan and evil spirit forces [II Cor. 4:4; Eph. 2:2; I Jn. 5:19]; however, with the Second Coming, all of this will be rectified).

For He has founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods (founded and established it above...).

Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in His Holy Place? (Speaks of the time that Christ will enter Jerusalem and take His Place as the Ruler of the entirety of the world.)

He Who has clean hands, and a pure heart; Who has not lifted up His soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully (only the Lord Jesus Christ could fit this description).

He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of His Salvation (in effect, God can only bless His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ; He blesses us when we are properly in Christ, and only when we are properly in Christ [Jn. 14:20; 15:5], which we can only be by and through the Cross [Gal., Chpt. 5).

This is the generation of them who seek Him, who seek Your face, O Jacob. Selah. (Jacob is used as an example, because by faith Jacob received everything good, when truly he only merited condemnation [Gen. 28:1215; 48:16].)

Lift up your heads, O you gates; and be you lift up, you everlasting doors; and the King of Glory shall come in (this is Christ making His entrance into Jerusalem at the beginning of the Kingdom Age; as the previous Psalm proclaims, Israel must first accept Christ as the Shepherd, even as the Song of Solomon proclaims, before they can have Him as King).

Who is this King of Glory? (The Lord Jesus Christ, the only One with clean hands.) The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle (meaning that He fought the battle at Calvary as the Good Shepherd, and did so for all of mankind).

Lift up your heads, O you gates; even lift them up, you everlasting doors; and the King of Glory shall come in (the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, which will take place immediately after the Second Coming [Zech., Chpt. 14]).

Who is this King of Glory? The LORD of Hosts, He is the King of Glory. Selah. (The answer is: Jesus Jehovah.)
