CHAPTER 83

A PSALM OF ASAPH: A PRAYER FOR THE DESTRUCTION OF ISRAELS ENEMIES

Keep not Your silence, O God: hold not Your peace, and be not still, O God. (As the previous Psalm proclaimed the destruction of Israel by the Messiah because of their terrible rebellion, this Psalm reflects the efforts of the Antichrist to completely annihilate Israel.)

For, lo, your (Israels) enemies make a tumult: and they who hate you have lifted up the head. (This head, representing ten nations, as outlined by Daniel [Dan. 7:7; Rev. 13:1], will join with the Antichrist in opposing Israel.)

They have taken crafty counsel against Your People, and consulted against Your Hidden Ones. (The crafty counsel means that the seven-year pact that the Antichrist will make with Israel will be broken at the midpoint. The term, Hidden Ones, means that the Antichrist will think that God no longer cares for Israel. His Care has been somewhat hidden, but will now come forth to full bloom.)

They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance. (This is the evil thought of Ezek. 38:10.)

For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against You (these who are confederate are the ten horns of Dan. 7:7; John said these kings would be confederates with the Antichrist [the beast Rev. 17:12]):

The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;

Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;

Assur also is joined with them: they have helped the children of Lot. Selah.

Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:

Which perished at En-dor; they became as dung for the Earth.

Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yes, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna (these nations listed were confederates against Israel, and are representative of the ten nations in the last days which, under the Antichrist, will oppose and persecute Israel greatly):

Who said, Let us take to ourselves the Houses of God in possession. (This speaks of the Antichrist, who will take over the rebuilt Temple at the midpoint of his seven-year pact with Israel. He will do this by setting up his own statue in the House of God, and will demand worship [II Thess. 2:4].)

O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.

As the fire burns a wood, and as the flame sets the mountains on fire;

So persecute them with Your tempest, and make them afraid with Your storm.

Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek Your Name, O LORD.

Let them be confounded and troubled forever; yes, let them be put to shame, and perish (and all of this will most definitely happen at the Second Coming):

That men may know that You, Whose Name alone is JEHOVAH, are the Most High over all the Earth. (Ezekiel said concerning Gods Deliverance of Israel in the Battle of Armageddon, The heathen shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel [Ezek. 39:7].)
