CHAPTER 99

AUTHOR UNKNOWN: ADMONITIONS TO FEAR, PRAISE, AND WORSHIP GOD

1The LORD reigns; let the people tremble: He sits between the Cherubims; let the Earth be moved. (This will take place at the beginning of the Kingdom Age.)

2The LORD is great in Zion; and He is high above all the people. (Animated by this great vision, the pilgrim company joyfully shouts, Jehovah takes the Kingdom. The meaning of the statement, high above all the people, refers to the Deity of the Messiah. While it is true He is Very Man; still, He is also Very God.)

3Let them praise Your great and terrible Name; for it is Holy (meaning without impurity of any nature).

4The Kings strength also loves judgment; You do establish equity, You execute judgment and righteousness in Jacob. (This Verse promises that the Power of the king shall be employed on behalf of judgment, equity, and Righteousness. This is not true of Earthly governments and monarchs.

If one will notice, the word equity is used repeatedly by the Holy Spirit in these Psalms, meaning that the Lord of Glory will at long last bring equality on Earth.)

5Exalt you the LORD our God, and worship at His footstool; for He is Holy. (In the Third Verse, it says, His Name is Holy, and in this Verse it says, He is Holy.)

6Moses and Aaron among His Priests, and Samuel among them who call upon His Name; they called upon the LORD, and He answered them. (Moses actually exercised the Office of Priest before Aaron [Ex. 24:68]. So, both Moses and Aaron were among His Priests. Samuel represents the Prophets.

The Holy Spirit recognizes and brings forward those who in the past were true to His communications, despite national and ecclesiastical apostasy.

These men figure together all who loved and trusted the Messiah in the past and who were faithful to His Word. Even though they died thousands of years ago, true to His Promise, they will appear with our Lord in the glory of His Kingdom, and along with them all whom they represent and who exercised the faith that they exercised.)

7He spoke unto them in the cloudy pillar: they kept His Testimonies, and the Ordinance that He gave them. (We are told here that the Holy Spirit judged all before the Cross in the light of Justification by Faith and called them righteous when, in fact, they had no righteousness. This means that they entered into His Victory, and were accorded the same as the New Testament Saints.)

8You answered them, O LORD our God: You were a God Who forgave them, though You took vengeance of their inventions. (Two great Divine principles appear in this Verse: 1. That God forgives confessed sin and 2. That He judges its action.)

9Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at His Holy Hill; for the LORD our God is Holy. (The Fifth Verse extols Israel to worship the Lord; this Ninth Verse extols the nations of the world to praise Israels God and Lord.)
