CHAPTER 145

THE AUTHOR IS DAVID: GREAT IS THE LORD, AND GREATLY TO BE PRAISED

I will extol You, my God, O King; and I will bless Your Name forever and ever. (Even though this pertains to David, even more so it pertains to the Greater Son of David, Who will lead this Song on the Millennial Morn, with all enemies defeated, and the great congregation of Israel and the Glorified Saints will respond.)

Every day will I bless You; and I will praise Your Name forever and ever. (Praise to the Lord is the hallmark of every true Believer.)

Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable. (On that Millennial morn, the world will look out upon a landscape that, for the first time in human history, is bathed in peace. The praise for such will be given to the Lord.)

One generation shall praise Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts. (In the Kingdom Age to come, the greater topic of conversation will always be Your works and Your mighty acts. Thus, the conversation will not be on sports, entertainment, the stock market, etc.)

I will speak of the glorious honour of Your majesty, and of Your wondrous works. (In these Passages, Christ extols the Father, while the people extol the Messiah.)

And men shall speak of the might of Your terrible acts: and I will declare Your greatness.

They shall abundantly utter the memory of Your great goodness, and shall sing of Your righteousness. (In that day, men will speak of Gods great Power, and also of the great Goodness of God.)

The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.

The LORD is good to all: and His tender mercies are over all His works. (Verses 8 through 9 are the Song. The Song concerns the character of Jehovah.)

All Your works shall praise You, O LORD; and Your saints shall bless You. (The great price that was paid at Calvary for the Redemption of man is called here Your works. For that we will ever praise Him.)

They shall speak of the glory of Your Kingdom, and talk of Your power (such will be the topic of all conversation);

To make known to the sons of men His mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of His Kingdom. (During the Millennial Reign, the priority of Jehovah will be the evangelization of the world.)

Your Kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom, and Your dominion endures throughout all generations. (This Kingdom proclaims the interpretation by Daniel of the dream which was given much later to Nebuchadnezzar [Dan. 2:4445].)

The LORD upholds all who fall, and raises up all those who be bowed down. (Because of sin, man has ever been bowed down. In the coming Kingdom Age, by the Power of God, he will be raised up.)

The eyes of all wait upon You; and You give them their meat in due season. (The eyes of the whole world in that day will be directed toward the Messiah. Because of this, the Earth will then yield her increase, which will guarantee a world without hunger, want, or poverty.)

You open Your Hand, and satisfy the desire of every living thing. (As Jesus touched the bread and fed the great multitudes and they were all satisfied, He will, likewise, satisfy the righteous hunger of every heart.)

The LORD is righteous in all His Ways, and holy in all His Works. (In that coming day, the entirety of the world will admit that His Ways are right and His Works are Holy.)

The LORD is near unto all them who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth. (In this Passage, we are told that all of the servants of God may presently foretaste, on a personal basis, in their hearts the sweetness and power of Christs future perfect Earthly government.)

He will fulfill the desire of them who fear Him: He also will hear their cry, and will save them. (Not only will the Lord do this in the coming Kingdom Age, but also, and as always, He will do so now, that is, if men will only believe Him.)

The LORD preserves all them who love Him: but all the wicked will He destroy. (This tells us that in the end Righteousness will prevail.)

My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD: and let all flesh bless His Holy Name forever and ever. (This was Davids commitment; it should be our commitment as well. However, its greater fulfillment will come during the Kingdom Age.)
